Saturday night, Sept. 21st, 2013. Our banquet took place in Cross Creek’s Emerald Room. The reunion theme was “Rock-N-Roll of the 60’s” There was a cash bar open from 5:30PM until 6:00PM. We then had our official class reunion photo taken by our Larry Waitz and his lovely wife at 6:00PM sharp. The class was naughty during the photo taking, they wouldn’t stop talking. Someone said that the whole class should get a time out. However, somehow the picture came out great. You may see it here with the other class reunion images. There were 76 classmates plus additional guests in attendance. While we don’t have an exact count, we believe there were more than122 there. Following the photo, we had a scrumptious buffet dinner consisting of braised tenderloin, noodles, stuffed chicken breast, baked white fish, stuffed shells, parsley red skin potatoes, green bean almandine, tossed salad with of course a beverage, rolls and assorted fruit pies. Absolutely no one went hungry.

After dinner we had a solemn Memorial Dedication to honor our 48 deceased classmates from our class of 208. As each name was called, classmates were given the opportunity to come forward to place a flower in a vase. This was a very emotional period for our class.

As suggested, after our 2008 reunion, the reunion committee decided not to have any games or music during the evening. As a result, everyone could speak to one another using a normal voice. During the meal, someone did turn on a radio for a little background music, but even that was quickly turned off. It was wonderful.

A Class Thank you to Some Special Classmates

We would like to thank all of you who unselfishly donated money to the class fund that made our 50th reunion such a success. All of you desired to remain anonymous. Because of your gifts, the Friday evening get-together was totally free to all classmates. Then on Saturday evening, the price of the tickets were reduced, and the following additional gifts were provided to each class member: A class reunion booklet, a writing pen with a reunion inscription, and a beautiful coffee mug with images of Oil City.

The Class Reunion Committee

We would also like to thank our Class Reunion Committee who, without their effort, the reunion would have never happened. Just by the size of our committee list, you get an idea of how much class spirit we have. Thank you everyone so much…..
