It was another of those perfect Summer days when the temperature was wonderful, there was a slight cool breeze, wonderful country smells in the air, and only a few drops of rain that didn’t bother anyone. Mr. Flath (our History teacher and football coach) had once again invited our class to spend an enchanting day with him on his country farm.
Nineteen of our classmates came with additional guests. Once again most of us gathered outside the entrance of the barn relaxing in the generous shade catching up on what has happened to each other since our last get-together, reminiscing of old times in and especially out of OCHS, discussing our families and probably telling our many illnesses, aches and pains, and surgeries. Since most of us brought additional food and drink, everyone had a great time and had lots to eat and drink of whatever they chose.
Just when we thought that the party was beginning to wind down, we all gathered in a large circle of chairs in the open field between the house and the barn. Here we talked amongst each other until almost 9:00PM. It seemed that the class never wanted to leave each other. We all were having just a marvelous time together. We felt sorry for those that missed the get-together and hoped that they would come next year.
We want to thank the following people that helped with cleaning before and after the party was over: Ron and Ann Mathews, John Depew, Linda Carson Waugaman, Ted and Carol Krawiec
We wish to thank all that made a contribution to our get together, as it made it a great success.
To our classmates that missed coming to our first “Class of ’63 Summer Celebration”. You truly missed a wonderful time. We intend to have another next year and hope to see even more of our class then, if not before at one of our class Mini Reunions.
