Thomas L. Kerr, 79, of Stafford Virginia, formerly of Oil City, PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 22,1944, in Corry PA, he was the son of the late Alberta Barrett Maier of Oil City.

Tom was a graduate of Oil City High School and attended Trinidad State College, in Trinidad Colorado, where he played football. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education from Clarion University.

Tom was a Vietnam veteran with the United States Army, 25th infantry, serving from June 1965 to June 1968. He earned several military honorary awards, which includes CIB, NDSM, VSC, VCM, ARCOM, and GCMDL.

He was married to the former Marjorie M. Maxwell, who provided the most devoted and loving care during his health decline over the last several years.

Tom worked as an instructor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency before retiring in 2007.

He was an avid golfer and hunter. He also enjoyed watching westerns and sporting events, particularly ones that involved his children and grandchildren, and traveling with his beloved wife.

In addition to his wife, Marge, he is survived by 6 children, Mark (Pam) Kerr of Oil City PA, Melissa (Gary) Warner of Pleasantville PA, KC (Amanda) Kerr, of Elkton MD, Ron (Lisa) Whitling of Ann Arbor MI, Brian Whitling (Cynthia Harmon) of Butler PA, Brandi (Jon) Carbaugh of Stafford VA, with whom they resided, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Bill and Philip and three sisters, Patricia, Virginia, and Joan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alberta and two sisters, Susan Sisko and Carol Condon.

Family will have a private burial in Quantico National Cemetery in Virginia and the family will announce a Memorial Service to be held at a later date.
