Nancy Lynn Henderson Davis, 60, of Bakersfield, Calif., formerly of Oil City, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at her home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born May 25, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Lester and Cynthia Schnitzer Henderson, who returned to Oil City after a short stay in Ohio.
She was a 1963 graduate of Oil City High School and shortly after her graduation, she moved to Colorado where she received her bachelor of science degree in accounting from Metro State College in Denver.
Mrs. Davis met her husband, Tim Davis, in Colorado and they were married Dec. 6, 1975. He survives.
She worked for Mobil Oil as a senior accounting analyst for more than 20 years. She then took a position as an accounting instructor at Santa Barbara Business College where she worked for the last eight years.
Mrs. Davis also started and ran a successful Web site that allowed children and parents to rate teachers in the United States, Canada, the U.K. and Ireland.
She loved interacting with her students and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her father, Lester Henderson of Oil City; a grandson, Dylan Davis of Bakersfield, Calif.; and cousins, Lorrene Wagner and Diana Wise, both of Franklin, Rita Truitt, Tom Schnitzer and Larry Henderson, all of Oil City, and Linda Dempsey of Raleigh, N.C.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her only child, Brian Timothy Davis, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident Nov. 5, 2003; and her mother, Cynthia Henderson.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Bakersfield Central Adventist Church, 4201 Wilson Road, Bakersfield.
