Michael J. Brown, 63, of 24 W. Front St. Oil City, died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, in his apartment.

He had formerly lived at 526 Merritt St. Oil City, PA.

Born July 25, 1945, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Robert and Sophie Gill Brown.

He attended St. Joseph Grade School and was a graduate of Oil City High School. He had also attended Venango Campus.

Retired, Mike had previously worked as a quality control supervisor at Continental Can for 17 years and as a sales representative for Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Mike’s love for life was known to all who knew him. He enjoyed fine dining and cooking for others. He enjoyed music, especially his favorite singer, Gordon Lightfoot, and was an avid Steelers fan. His love for his grandchildren and family topped everything else.

Surviving are a daughter, Marcy Jo Lusher of Polk; two sons, Michael Brown and his wife, Jessica, of Chesapeake, Va., and Nicholas Robert Brown of Edinboro; and four grandchildren, Dalton and Julia Lusher of Polk and Michael and Gracie Brown of Virgina.

Survivors also include two sisters, Mary Anne Brown Pastor of Oil City and Patricia Montgomery and her husband, Bill, of Meadville; a brother, Steve Brown of Columbus,Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the gathering space of St. Joseph Church in Oil City.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Msgr. John W. Swoger, presiding.

Internment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations be made in Mike’s name to the St. Joseph Church Development Fund.

The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
